CFLC Launches Groundbreaking Three-Year Project to Expand Adapted CPE Training with Support from Trinity Church Wall Street Philanthropies and the Iona Collaborative

The Center for Lay Chaplaincy (CFLC) is excited to announce the launch of a three-year initiative to modify and scale our Adapted Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program across the Episcopal Church. This project is made possible through generous funding from Trinity Church Wall Street Philanthropies and a strategic grant from the Iona Collaborative at Seminary of the Southwest.

The initiative will focus on building a sustainable and accessible training apparatus in collaboration with Iona, enabling dioceses across the Episcopal Church to implement Adapted CPE programs at minimal cost. Over the next three years, the CFLC will develop and pilot two core deliverables:

An Adapted CPE Curriculum, with hybrid and online models, tailored to the needs of lay and clergy leaders in diverse ministry settings.

A Facilitator Training Curriculum to equip local leaders to deliver the program with theological depth, pastoral insight, and cultural responsiveness.

This partnership marks a significant step forward in expanding spiritual formation pathways for emerging leaders, especially in dioceses where access to traditional CPE programs is limited.

We are grateful for the visionary support of Trinity Church Wall Street Philanthropies and the Iona Collaborative and look forward to sharing updates as this vital work unfolds.
